Privacy Policy

The answers you give about your dog — name, breed, age, whether they're desexed, weight, food type and (if you enter it) your food's calorie content, body shape, whether you can feel their ribs, and activity level. This is what the free result and the paid plan are calculated from.

A hashed version of your IP address, not the address itself — used only to stop one visitor from running an unreasonable number of checks in an hour. We can't reverse it back into your real IP.

Your email address, only if you pay — collected by Stripe during checkout, so we can send your receipt, the link to your plan, and (unless you opt out) a couple of reminders to re-weigh your dog. We never see or store your card details; Stripe handles the payment directly.

Weigh-ins, if you use that feature — the weight and date each time you log one after buying a plan, so we can tell you whether to keep, trim or increase the portions.

A session cookie — a random ID, no tracking value on its own, used only to stop forged form submissions while you're using the site. It expires when you close your browser.

Three services, each doing one job, none of them free to use your data for their own purposes:

• Stripe processes payment and collects your email at checkout. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Brevo sends the receipt and reminder emails on our behalf. See Brevo's privacy policy.
• Our web host stores the database this all sits in, on a server in the country it's hosted in.

We'd only share more than this if the law required it, or to investigate abuse of the service (for example, fraudulent payments).

A free check (no payment) stays in our database indefinitely so the result link keeps working, but it's tied only to a random, unguessable link, not to your name or any account. A paid plan and its receipt are kept for our own accounting and refund records, and so your plan link keeps working. Email us and we'll delete what we can — see "Your rights" below for what that means in practice.

You can ask us, any time, by emailing hello@dogspan.app, to:

• See what we hold about a check or order, if you can tell us the dog's name and roughly when you paid (we can't look anything up by name alone, since we don't store accounts).
• Correct or delete it. Deleting a paid plan's data also means the link in your receipt stops working, so let us know if you'd rather we just correct something instead.
• Stop reminder emails without deleting anything — every reminder has a one-click "stop reminders" link, or use the same link on your plan page.

Wherever you are — including under Australia's Privacy Act, the UK or EU's GDPR, or a US state law like California's — these are close to rights you'd already have; we apply them to everyone who asks, regardless of where you're writing in from.

DogSpan is for dog owners, not children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16, and payment requires being old enough to hold a payment card in your own right or with permission.

The site is served over HTTPS only. Passwords aren't a thing here — there's nothing to log into — but the private link to your plan works like one, so don't forward it anywhere you wouldn't forward a receipt. Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach our servers.

If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use DogSpan after a change means you accept the update; if a change is significant, we'll say so clearly here rather than bury it.
